About Us

About Us

Everyone deserves access to compassionate, quality healthcare.
Yet today, more than a third of the world’s population is denied this basic human right. Rural hospitals are understaffed, underfunded, and overburdened. Healthcare workers in these areas serve tirelessly, often with limited resources, treating some of the world’s most vulnerable populations.

Helping Hands for Hospitals was born out of a deep conviction to stand in the gap for these hospitals—where care is constant, but resources are scarce. We partner with mission-driven hospitals that deliver affordable, quality healthcare in rural and remote regions, particularly to the poor, the bedridden, and the forgotten. Together, we can extend healing beyond hospital walls and bring hope to every bedside

Our Journey of Faith and Healing

At Helping Hands for Hospitals (HHH), we believe that healthcare is a mission, and that God uses willing hearts and healing hands to bring hope to the forgotten corners of the world.

A Humble Beginning — November 16, 2016

We praise the Lord for uniting a group of passionate believers at Bethany Medical Centre in Anaikatty, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, where Helping Hands for Hospitals was born. It was during this two-day conference that God opened our eyes to the immense needs of under-resourced hospitals serving the poor in rural India.

A founding committee was formed, led by Dr. Jaison T. Mathai (Chairman), alongside faithful leaders including Dr. K. Muralidar, Dr. Sam Siddharth, Dr. Sam Abraham, Dr. Anbu Suresh, and others, who all committed to building a movement centered on Christ and compassion.

A Calling is Heard

We praise the Lord for the divine opportunity to gather at Bethany Medical Centre in Anaikatty, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, where the seeds of Helping Hands for Hospitals (HHH) were first sown. The two-day gathering was inaugurated by Dr. Ravi Korulla, former Principal of CMC Vellore, India. This gathering became a spiritual milestone—marked by fervent prayer, heartfelt discussions, and a renewed passion for gospel-driven medical missions.

Dr. Selvyn D. Ebenezer, the physician evangelist, delivered a powerful keynote on sharing the gospel through healthcare. His message—rich in both truth and practicality—stirred our hearts. Rev. Dr. Sam Arthur, Secretary of EMFI, called us to a sincere walk with the Lord and reminded us that true dedication begins with faith. Inspired and unified in purpose, we officially formed HHH and appointed a coordinating committee led by Dr. Jaison T. Mathai as Chairman. Other members included Dr. K. Muralidar, Dr. Sam Siddharth, Dr. Sam Abraham, Mr. Koshy George, Dr. Anbu Suresh, and Executive Secretary Dr. Benjamin George, along with esteemed colleagues like Dr. Ravi Korulla, Dr. John Oommen, Dr. George Philip, Dr. Latha Paul, Dr. Manoj Jacob, and Dr. Benjamin George.

Following the momentum in India, we gathered believers in the USA for a prayerful conference call. Led by Dr. Abraham Thomas (President), with Mr. Prashanth Koshy, Mr. Anil Thomas, Mr. Koshy George, Dr. Benjamin George, and Dr. Robyn Koshy forming the executive team, a firm decision was made: to register Helping Hands for Hospitals International Inc. and expand this mission of mercy beyond borders.

HHH was officially registered in New Jersey as a Non-Profit Corporation (ID 0450160186), and by God’s grace, on March 6, 2020, the IRS granted us federal tax exemption under Section 501(c)(3). It was a foundational step in enabling wider financial and operational support to hospitals in need.

Field Visits & Faithful Partnerships

The leadership visited Christian Medical Centre in Purnia, Bihar, and Bethany Medical Centre in Anaikatty. We were moved by the dedication of Dr. Alex Philip in Bihar and pledged our continued support for his expanding work in a region desperate for compassionate care.

A follow-up meeting at Christian Fellowship Hospital, Oddanchatram, TN brought together faithful leaders once again. The Indian committee recognized the need to grow administratively and decided to appoint a permanent staff member to oversee office and website coordination. Dr. Benjamin George was given this task and continued serving hands-on in the anesthesia department while Dr. Latha Paul was on mission in Kashmir and Africa.

HHH was represented at the ICMDA World Congress in Hyderabad, where over 2,500 Christian medical professionals gathered in unity. The Lord showed us that we are not alone—there is a global church rising up for healthcare missions. During this conference, Er. Joseph Puthooran, an IT specialist, joined hands with HHH to develop our website, a vital step in extending our reach.

Answered Prayers

After much prayer, Ms. Feba Hanna Philip was appointed as our Freelancer. Her dedication brought structure and consistency to our growing work. That same month, we supported Dr. Murali’s mission in Anaikatty and extended our reach internationally, joining a soul-stirring medical mission in Amman, Jordan among Syrian and Iraqi refugees. The suffering we witnessed there continues to drive us to deeper compassion and intercession.

The U.S. Executive Committee gathered in Old Bridge, NJ to evaluate and plan ahead. With unity in prayer and purpose, the team prepared for the upcoming Annual Meeting in Edison, NJ. Every decision was bathed in prayer, as we trusted God to open new doors for service.

Looking Ahead with Hope:
The Road Beyond 2019

As we look back on this journey—from a small group of prayerful believers in Anaikatty to a global network of faithful hands—our hearts are filled with awe and gratitude. The Lord has led us step by step, opening doors, connecting hearts, and equipping His people for this healing mission.

But our journey is far from over.
